Denise started her career in 1996 as a CNA. After obtaining her Bachelors of Science in Nursing, she continued in her career as a registered nurse in the Oncology department of a hospital.
Denise then promoted to a medical/surgical educator, where she wrote and developed continuing education literature for nurses. As a nurse educator, she also lectured and instructed nurses on a variety of disease management topics, patient care, and annual RN, LPN and CNA competencies.

I recently took the position of Director of Nursing at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center. I began my nursing career in 1996 as a certified nursing assistant at a small nursing home in Palatine Bridge. I felt such a passion for learning and a strong desire to provide skilled care for the residents I had grown to love, that I decided to continue my education. I received my LPN diploma from HFM BOCES in 2000, my RN license after completing my associate’s degree at FMCC in 2005, and my bachelor’s degree in nursing from NAU in 2009. I have been a member of AANAC since 2008 and received my Nurse Executive certificate from them in 2009.

Have you considered approaching a nursing facility with regard to free CNA training. Many of them will train you for free if you’re willing to commit to working for them.

Hi Paige, Unfortunately you must take a certified nursing assistant class to be eligible for the CNA certification exam.
I just called the cna registry and they I am not certified, I have not gotten anything for being recertified in the mail from Minnesota and did not realize I was not certified but I have been working non stop for 20 years what do I do?
Everyone, if you are looking for a grant-FREE MONEY-just do an internet search for Workforce Investment Act for your State. It is a grant-where in Georgia, they will pay for you to take a cna class that accepts the WIA grant. For me, it was 5500$ for the first year, then 2500$ for my second year. since my class was only 800$, that’s all they would give me. This is a free grant and you don’t ever pay it back. good luck!

Hai,I wants to be RN and I don’t have ged so I would like to know where should start from
my name Selima Carson, I attended school for CNA, Medical Assistant, and Pharmacy technician. I am currenty in the process of getting my certification for both. I am no longer certified as Nursing assistant. I was wondering which area would be better for me to go into considering I have to pay to continue my education to become a nurse.
I have 23 years of experience with a CNA license in the state of Florida and I was wondering how may obtain a CNA license either in Washington D.C. or the state of Virginia.
