ArizonaWesternCollege is a public community college located in the sunny southwestern city of Yuma, Arizona. The main campus is located in Yuma; however, the school also offers classes at four other locations in nearby cities. The college currently has over 4,000 full time students and offers over 90 different programs of study.
The CNA program can be started in fall, spring, or summer. At the main campus in Yuma, the fall and spring program takes 8 weeks to complete, and the summer program is expedited at 5 weeks. To be eligible for enrollment, you must have a current CPR certification and pass a reading placement test.  Current costs for the CNA program is approximately $700, which includes textbooks and uniforms.

With 4 locations to choose, Mesa Community college offers convenient access to a comprehensive CNA training program for interested applicants in Mesa, Arizona. The school has been in operation for over 50 years and offers over 180 separate programs. Mesa Community College also offers day-care service for students who are parents and on-campus tutoring
The CNA course at Mesa Comm is a 150 hour course comprising of 60 hours classroom experience and 90 hours of clinicals. The cost of the program is just under $1100 and is one of the better priced programs throughout Arizona. The cost covers your textbook, fingerprinting, drug screen, nursing uniforms as well as a comprehensive background check.
To get admission in the program, you must be either 18 years of age or hold a GED diploma. You must also possess up to date immunization documentation. Effective 2008 applicants are also required to provide proof of citizenship.Taking a nursing assistant program at a community college makes it easy to join a more advanced nursing program in the future as you will have already completed a number of valid nursing credit hours.

When transporting a patient on a gurney, where is the best place to stand?

A. by the patient’s feet
B. by the patient’s head
C. in the center of the gurney

Answer: B- See Section 1 of the CNA Study Guide (Cleanliness and Safety). Always position yourself near the patient’s head when transporting them on a gurney. Push the patient down the hallway feet first to allow them to see where they are going. If you need to leave the patient in the hallway, make sure that you lock the gurney’s wheels.

    I take my CNA certificate to the state of Utah,but now I transfer my certificate to Az and I need 40 hr more .Where can I do my 40 hr of practice in Phx,Az.

      Alicia,
      Contact the Arizona Nursing board as these laws can vary from state to state. they may be able to suggest a facility where you can work the required 40 hours.

    is there a way to get your CNA certificate through State of AZ if you have taken a medical Assistant course and passed it in AZ?
