CNA Training in New Mexico

Read school reviews below.Are you moving to the state of New Mexico and already hold a nursing assistant certification?  If you wish to work as a CNA in the state of New Mexico, you will need to apply for reciprocity of your nursing assistant certification.  This is a process in which you will apply for the state of New Mexico to accept your CNA credentials from another state without requiring you to complete a new nursing assistant training course or to take the nursing assistant certification exam again.  You will not be able to work as a certified nursing assistant in New Mexico until you submit your application for reciprocity and until it is approved.

It is usually not too difficult to have your application to have your certification accepted in New Mexico.  The certifying body for nursing assistants in New Mexico will verify that you are registered by checking with the Nurse Aide Registry in your state of certification.  They will make certain that you have not had any charges against you for misuse of patient property, abuse or neglect.  If you have a clean record and your certification is able to be verified, you will be well on your way to working as a CNA in New Mexico.

Eastern New Mexico University

The CNA course at Eastern New Mexico costs just about $450 in tuition and text book fees. This cost is for residents of New Mexico only. Accommodation for the duration of the course is provided for an additional $420 per month. Upon completion of the course you will be eligible to take on the New Mexico state nurse aide certification exam.

Central New Mexico Community College

The course at Central New Mexico is a 150 hour course that accounts for six college credits. The total cost of tuition and textbooks is relatively cheap at just under $500. Taking your NA course at Central New Mexico will allow you to further your education very easily in the future because the six credit hours could then be used to join an advanced nursing program such as Practical nursing and receive an exemption from some of the basic classes. A CNA course is also a mandatory prerequisite for most advanced nursing courses and will give you an edge over other applicants in a limited position course.

Dona Ana Community College nurse Aide School – Las Cruces

Dona Ana offers a non credit CNA course that costs $850. The course fee includes the mandatory background check as well as the cost of a valid CPR certification. It also includes the cost of scrubs and textbooks. Upon completion of the course you will be eligible for the nurse aide exam in New Mexico.

The CNA program will make it possible for individuals to sit for the Nursing Assistant Certification Exam.  Students will receive 8 credit hours of instruction.  They will be provided with the theory and background needed to understand a career as a nursing assistant.  Clinical experience will provide students with experience working directly with patients.  Students living in the district will pay $57 per credit and those outside of the district will pay $68.

San Juan College Nurse Aide Program – Farmington

The Nursing Aide Certification course lasts for 8 weeks.  The program is typically taught for 4 hours, 3 times per week.  It is worth 6 credit hours.  Those interested in the program will need to apply for admissions to the university.   Students will have 45 total class hours of instruction.  They will additionally complete 90 hours of lab and clinical instruction to gain their hands on experience.  The cost is about $607 and does include the fee to sit for the Nursing Assistant Certification Exam.

Pima Medical Institute CNA Program

The nursing assistant program prepares students to work in healthcare facilities as nursing assistants.  Students receive classroom and lab instruction to prepare them to carry out the duties of a CNA.  They also complete a clinical rotation where they are able to further develop nursing skills while working directly with patients.  The course typically lasts about 2 months.  The course is worth 4.5 credit hours.  Students will complete 130 hours of instruction.

    Can you test out of the CNA in New Mexico? Do you offer a skills review class and then a chance to test out?
