If you are considering a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Washington, you might be wondering who sets the rules and regulations for the training of CNA professionals as well as who regulates certified nursing assistants in their employment. In the state of Washington, CNA training and the practice of CNAs is regulated by the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Social and Health Services. Their job is to ensure that anyone who is employed as a CNA has completed all necessary training and testing and that all individuals employed as CNAs follow the regulations set forth by these agencies. These agencies set the criteria for any CNA training programs.
After an individual completes a training program to become a certified nursing assistant, they must take and pass a certification exam. The criteria for this exam are set by the Department of Social and Health Services. The Department of Health insures that all nursing assistants fulfill all criteria for employment before working as a CNA. Additionally, they issue the state certified nursing assistant to all who are qualified. On average, certified nursing assistants working in the state of Washington earn about $25,000 annually.
