Certified nursing assistants often work in hospitals. They help nurses to provide basic care and comfort for patients. So I’m trying to decide if I want to be a CNA. I helped alot with my grandparents, my grandma has Alzheimers. And my grandpa had a catheter and I would help with that. I just don’t know if I would be good for this job.

Hi….I’m a 44-year-old mom who is about to have empty nest syndrome and I have decided it is time for me to have my own life. My career goal is to become an addictions counselor and possibly a therapist later on. I thought that becoming a CNA would be a good first step in these career goals. I now live in Philadelphia, PA and was a CNA in the past in Virginia. A friend of mine is needing home care for her disabled son and wants me to be the caregiver. How do I go about getting certified for PA. It has been a few years since I have worked in my field of study.
I’ve been a CNA for four months, and a Personal Care Asst. for four years. During my years as a PCA I was asked by many Hospice employees to work with them. They thought I was a CNA. My case load is approximately twenty patients. ( I like to refer to them as friends ). I answer call bells IMMEDIATLY. When you come back from a day, or weekend off and a resident/ patient says to you, “Where were you”, you understand the meaning of HUMILITY.

I just became a certified nursing assistant and I’m having trouble finding work. When I call the HR departments and inquire about CNA positions, they shout,”You have to have at least 1 year of experience!”. How can I get experience if no one hires me as newly certified CNA student.
Am I looking for employment as a CNA in the wrong institutions? Please advise experienced CNA’s and PCT’s .

i have the same problems i am a c.n.a i got my certified in 2011 and i still not working in the field as a cna they tell me the same thing as you you don’t have experince in the c.n.a field you haven’t work in it for 1 yr.how do i get experince if they don’t hire you.
I become a certified nursing Assistant in December 2012, since i am having problem getting a job. When I called HR department to inquire about CNA position, they said I don’t have any experience, How can I have experience if no one hires me as newly certified nursing assistant. Hi my names isabel and i got my cna licence in september 2011 n got a luckly got a job in december 2011. some places do want new cnas n do give you the chance to get experiance. since you are new n fresh you might have new skills to bring to the table. so all i recomend is to keep heads up n during interviews just bring up new times new skills. i have even renews my licence witch was an even more dificult challenge so keep up on it all. good luck people n i love this web sight very motivating.
A great place to start might be Home Health. I have worked almost 3 yrs in HH and did 3 yrs as a PCA privately. Since the death of my personal client I have worked in an Alzheimer’s facility.
