Nursing assistants help individuals who are sick or injured with activities of daily living. They provide a variety of basic (non-medical primarily) nursing services. You can start on a path to a career as a certified nursing assistant by entering a CNA training program.
Training Hours and Requirements
The nursing assistant training programs that qualify you to sit for the certification exam in Kansas are approved by the Department of Health and Environment. You must attend a course that meets all criteria requirements set forth by the Department or you will not be able to become a CNA. Courses will be at least 90 hours in length. Some of your time will be spent in the classroom and some time will be spent in clinical training.
It is necessary to complete all components of a nursing assistant training course. You should make very effort not to miss any classes. Talk to your instructor right away if you must miss a training session. Upon completion of the course, you can then complete the paperwork to schedule to sit for the nursing assistant competency exam.
CNA Certification Transfer to kansas Via Reciprocity
If you currently hold an active nursing assistant certification from another state, you can apply to have your certification transferred to Kansas. Kansas offers nursing assistant certification reciprocity with some states. This means that they will accept the certification from another state allowing you to receive your nursing assistant certification in Kansas. The state of Kansas does not waive the testing requirements. You will need to pass the CNA certification exam with at least a score of 75% in order to transfer your license.
The state of Kansas does not transfer certification from all states. You can contact the Department for Aging and Disability Services for information about reciprocity and to determine if the state from where you hold certification is one from which Kansas offers certification through reciprocity. Complete all forms in their entirety and submit any requested documents if you are applying to transfer your certification from another state.

FAQ
Q: I have changed my last name and my address. I did not receive my renewal forms. How can I get them sent to me or preferably get a copy of the forms on the internet to complete since my certificate expires 9-30-11?
A: You will need to get in touch with the CNA registry to notify them of your change in name. If the name or address has not been updated you will not receive your renewal forms in the mail and will thus have to download a copy from the registry website.

I have just relocated to Chicago from Kansas, where I am certified as a CNA. I submitted the out of state transfer of license form and received a reply back from the state telling me that the facility or agency that hires me will need to submit the transfer request. I have applied at numerous nursing facilities, hospitals, etc. and they have denied me employment due to not being certified in IL. It’s frustrating when the form from IL indicates it’s my job to send in the paperwork to transfer. I’m so frustrated and I’m worried because I have a 2 year old depending solely on me…I need help with getting transferred…I could have a job in a heartbeat…please help
I am trying to reinstate my CNA license. I have not used it since 2011 or 2012. But I also have a couple legal charges from over a year ago I am just now being charges with. My charges are not related to my job as a CNA and they are both nonviolent crimes. Is it possible to reinstate my license? If so how do I do so? I really enjoyed my job as a CNA/CMA
Hi I lost my cna certificate card and I have no idea where to start in trying to get another one issued or mail to me I just applied for a job and they want a copy of it and I’m just lost as what to do
I live in Kansas, and I was talking to a lady at one of nursing homes and my license is from 2011. (I actually never got hired on anywhere. It was where those deals where if you don’t have experience they won’t hire you, and I couldn’t get any experience if no one would hire me. Even though I passed my clinicals and everything.) She said I could talk to one of the nurses about a 40 hour checklist to renew my CNA license. The lady also said I wouldn’t have to pay anything. So I was wondering if this is really true, or if I had to go somewhere else to apply for my license to be renewed. Or if I had to pay and retake the test.
And if I had said apply for my license to be renewed where do I go? Is there a number I could call for answers? And about how much would it be to get renewed if I have to pay?
I need to renew my ks cna… I am “inactive” what do i need to do to renew?
