The state of Delaware works hard to ensure that all certified nursing assistants are well trained and ready to provide the best possible nursing assistant care to their patients. The federal government says that nursing assistants must receive at least 75 hours of training in order to become a CNA. Delaware sets much higher standards by requiring state approved training courses to offer 150 hours of training for nursing assistant students. The hours must include 75 classroom hours and 75 clinical hours. Sussex Tech Adult Education Division Certified Nursing Assistant Course- Georgetown

It is your responsibility to report any, and all, accidents to your supervisor while you are on duty, regardless of injury. Once you are notified about a potential fall, report the incident to your supervisor right away; do not wait until later or at the end of shift. The patient may not be symptomatic at first; however, complications related to the fall may occur later.
Depending on the institution’s policies, you may also be required to document the fall in an incident report. When you write this report, make sure to be very specific and provide all the relevant facts. Always be aware that whatever you document in a report should be accurate. In the event of a lawsuit or inquiry regarding the incident, your report is the written record of what happened.
