If you are interested in starting a career in the healthcare industry without spending a lot of time or money, you should consider a career as a nursing assistant. CNAs provide basic nursing care services for patients in a variety of healthcare settings. You must hold a certification as a nursing assistant (aide) in Illinois if you want to work in a home health care agency, intermediate care facilities and license/certified skilled nursing facilities. In order to become a certified nursing assistant, you will need to take a nursing assistant training course and then to complete a nursing assistant competency exam. Find a school from the accredited list below.
The Health Care Worker Registry provides a listing of nursing assistants in Illinois. This is much like the Nursing Aide Registry used in many other states. The Department of Public Health is responsible for maintaining this registry in the state of Illinois. Information on the registry is available over the telephone as well as online. Before hiring someone to work as a CNA, a healthcare facility will verify their certification and details with the registry. This ensures that only qualified individuals are hired to work as nursing assistants. And that those individuals have not had any charges of abuse or neglect against patients.

You’d need to contact the Illinois board of nursing to see if they’re giving credit for your degree. You can assess your options based on that.

I need to find a Refresher Course Program in the chicago area. But my CNA is for another state.
thank you
1) If your license is from another state, you can transfer it to Illinois without retaking the training.
2) If you’re taking the training in Illinois, you will have to do the exam in Illinois and then transfer your license to the state you wish to work in.
I got my certification for cna about 2 years ago but didn’t take the final test. Do I have to retake the whole course or are there any refresher courses in Illinois?
What are the requirements to take a can training class?
I am a High school senior in Springfield, Il is there anywhere I can train at to get a CNA license, or do I have to wait until I am 18?
Hi there, I am wondering if you can help. I live in Belleville, IL which is right next to St. Louis MO. I am having a hard time finding a program here in town that isn’t over priced and what I feel is going to under educate me. 10 weeks course 2 days a week at $1,600 is just not what I want. If I am dishing out that kind of money I want it to be worth it. I honestly don’t even want to spend close to that, because it’s not feasible and the “payment plans” are a joke. Half a registration and the other half the day you start class and if you don’t have the money whatever you put in is not refunded. I wouldn’t even mind traveling a little ways over the river. Can you please help? This is stressing me out so bad and the whole purpose of this was to help alleviate the stress my family and I have now.
I live in Illinois and am wondering where I can take a can refresher course? I am close to Illinois valley community college, but they only offer once or twice a year and its hard to get into. Please help I need to do this asap
