Free CNA Training in Georgia

On average, certified nursing assistants earn about $14 an hour per hour.  Some CNA training programs in Georgia also offer phlebotomy and EKG training.  Students receiving additional training have more job opportunities and the ability to earn a higher income.  Read below for a list of free training options in Georgia:

1) The state of Georgia sometimes offers scholarships and grants for individuals who wish to pursue training as a certified nursing assistant.  Contact the Board of Nursing in Georgia to learn about potential options that might be available to you to receive your CNA training for no cost.  You should apply for any programs or financial options available to you in order to try to cover the cost of your nursing assistant training. Find out more about how this works in our article on Free Training Through Scholarships and Grants

guidelines

2) Consider working for a nursing care facility for awhile in order to receive cna training.  Many facilities will actually pay for you to receive training and then require you to work for them for a previously agreed upon number of months.  This is a good way to start out your CNA career and to gain the necessary training and experience that you need.

3) You might be able to receive reimbursement of money you spent on CNA training if you were certified within the last year.  Many healthcare providers will actually reimburse you for training and expenses upon hiring you.  In fact, most Medicare and Medicaid certified nursing facilities are required to do so.  Maintain careful records of your training tuition and fees.

Low Cost Training Programs

These aren’t free but they’re pretty darn close.

Cherokee Angel Senior Care and Training Center
326 Heights Place, Canton, GA
Their training program is quite short relative to other programs offered in Universities in Georgia. It lasts for just 4 weeks and costs $650 in tuition fees. You can call them on 678 880 0884 for more info. They also offer HHA and caregiver training for an even lesser fee.

New Beginning Training Center
3895 Church Street, Room 310, Clarkston, Georgia 30021
Their training program lasts for 6 weeks and costs $575 in tuition. You can call them on 404-856-0679 for more info. They offer a further $75 discount if you pay your fees at once.

New Beginnings provides a CNA Training Course that prepares students not only to pass the certification exam but also to have a long-term career working as a nursing assistant. The training course is very well priced and the fees are worth all that the students learn and how well they will be prepared for their certification requirements. Prior students commend the school for their high level of professionalism when working with their students.  It seems they are considered to offer some of the highest level of professionalism seen in career training schools in the area. Some students commend Ms. Holmes in particular for teaching students even the trickiest core information and nursing aide skills with much success.  She is always willing to answer student questions to the best of her ability even when a student is worrying their question is silly.  They say she makes it fun to learn even when concepts may not seem exciting or may take some extra time and attention to pick up on and then to utilize in the CNA care setting.

Ms. Holmes is always doing what she can to help students become the best possible CNA they can be. That being said, Ms. Holmes will talk to a student if they feel they are not best suited to work as a nursing assistant or if she feels they need to learn more or gain more experience before working directly (even for their clinical study portion) with students.  She is known for wanting the best for not only her students but also for future patients those students will be caring for someday. Ms Rachel is another teacher who students remember well as they say she always had a positive attitude and worked hard to make sure every student learned everything needed.  They said she was always willing to help a student if they were struggling academic or otherwise and always did what she could to make sure they could successfully complete the program.

One student even commented that they were struggling to keep up with their payments for the class.  They were worried they would not be able to complete their training.  But the school helped the student so they would not need to drop out and they were able to graduate and obtain their nursing assistant certification. Students like these are forever grateful to the positive, professional and caring teachers and staff at New Beginnings.

Vocational Nursing Scholarships in GAcnanotes2

The National Association of Hispanic Nurses Scholarship is awarded to Hispanic applicants who demonstrate a commitment to the nursing profession and have the potential to act as role models for other students wanting to start a career in nursing. We’re not sure CNA training is one of the pathways allowed in this scholarship, its still worth it exploring this option if you’re okay with any kind of career in nursing.

FAQ:

Q: I’ve contacted one of the nursing homes above(below) and they offered to train me for free if I signed a contract to work there for at least 12 months. I understand their reasoning but I just wanted to make sure it was a good idea. They will prepare me by giving me on the job clinical training and will help me with the theory part as well. I will then need to have a state test done. I will also be paid while i am trained which is amazing. Is it a good idea to sign a contract in this case?

A: As you’ve stated, they’re simply protecting their investment. If they spend money to train you they expect you to work for them. Very rarely will you get free nurse aide training without a catch. We feel you should go for it but as always make sure you consult someone who’s knowledgeable with contracts to make sure you are able to leave should there be an issue.

Nursing homes in Georgia that might give CNA training for free

Note: These nursing homes DO NOT Provide CNA training directly. Those with active vacancies are more likely to hire trainees and provide training. Make sure you contact only those with a vacancy and see if they would be willing to hire you as a trainee.

    • Admin June 20, 2011 at 2:52 pm #

It is very difficult to get free training from Red Cross Agencies. You can see a list of centers at http://cnatraininghelp.com/red-cross-cna-training/

    Hello!
I was wondering if there are any no cost cna training opportunities in exchange for working around the Macon or Warner Robins, GA area? Just to get an idea. I’m getting my BS in pre-med Biology in December and before going to graduate school, I’m taking a year or so off to earn money and gain direct patient care experience.

    Thank you for the help!

Hi, I went to Covenant which is 3 weeks in class and 1 week clinical at a nursing home. I would say that it was 4 weeks but really it’s a 5 week program because you need to learn the rest of the skills in order to pass the state exam. I did it and passed. Don’t get dragged into the “Oh, we can help you get into Emory Hospital.” They never pick up the phone but you will pass the exam. Anyhoo, tuition costs like TB test cpr and first aide totaled to about 800$. Go for the WIA grant. It will help. Getting free classes is kind of hard if you don’t know where to start. Go to your workforce office. I live in Dekalb County so i went to the Dekalb Workforce. Red Cross will only teach you CPR and First Aide. So, good luck with Covenant CNA. They are a great school. All of the mentors and administrators are from the Military. I passed. I will start working at Emory Hospital Midtown January 7 2013. How did i get in? I worked with someone at a retail store who works for emory now and he helped me get an interview. Really, you have to knw someone before you can even think of getting an interview at a hospital. Try job agencies. there are a lot in Georgia. Good luck!

I want to work in the medical field, I’m reallY concered about getting certifield, because I was charged with a felony, over 30 years ago. I served 7years for the crime, but no one want to hire me, even if they say, your past record dosen’t matter. when I fill out the application, I never hear from them again. Will this affect my becoming a CNA?
