Free CNA Training in Kansas

You can begin a career in the healthcare industry without a great deal of time or money.  Consider training to work as a certified nursing assistant in which you will provide basic care services for patients in healthcare settings.  Before becoming certified, you will need to attend a state approved training course and then pass the competency exam.  For free training, see the opportunities available below:

According to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, there are some reimbursement benefits for nursing assistants.  If a nursing assistant is entering into a training program for certification at a time, when they are already employed as a (non-certified) nursing aide, they cannot be charged for training.  The employer must pay the training provider or offer free cna training at their facility.

Sometimes an individual will be offered employment to work as a CNA upon completion of their training and exam for certification.  Students, who have already received a job offer before or during their nursing assistant course, will not be required to pay for their training.  Again, free cna training or tuition payment must be provided by the employer.

Individuals who pay for the tuition out of pocket can still receive tuition reimbursement.  Employers must reimburse nursing assistants for some or all of their training if they hire the individual within one year of them completing certification.  CNAs that do not receive employment offers within 6 months will receive no more than 50% reimbursement from the employer.

FAQ

Q: I would like to receive a certificate. I misplaced mine and can’t find the original one. I would like a replacement of my certificate for Kansas as a certified nursing assistant and some assistance and information on how I could get a certificate from Missouri. I would like to be able to work in both states Missouri and Kansas.

A: You can’t work in both states together. Most states won’t allow multiple state certifications. As for  the lost certificate simply contact the CNA registry and they will send you a new copy. There might a minimal fee involved

I need to get a CNA certificate before I can start any RN Program. Since 2006 I have been caring for my mother who has Altzheimers and cancer. Hospice comes in twice per week to do vitals and reorder meds, I provide all her other needs, bathing, feeding and changing pull ups. My patience through this ordeal is why I want to become a nurse.

I was wondering what do I ask for when I call these nursing homes?

    • Admin August 22, 2014 at 8:17 pm #

You need to ask if they’ve got any open trainee vacancies. A lot of nursing homes facing staff shortages will offer trainee positions.
