Free CNA Training in Wisconsin

If you are looking for an entry-level healthcare opportunity where you can provide basic care services for patients, you might be considering a job as a CNA.  You can become a CNA by completing a state approved training program and passing the CNA certification test.  There are even ways to find free cna training. We have compiled a list of options below:

Many healthcare providers are in need of quality and compassionate certified nursing assistants.  You can contact local long-term care and continuing care communities to inquire about any available training courses.  The same is true of many rehabilitation centers and even some hospitals.

If you served in the military or were a member of the reserves, contact your benefits administrator to determine if you can access tuition assistance for training as a certified nursing assistant.  You might be able to receive the financial help necessary to cover the cost of training at a state certified nursing assistant program in Wisconsin.  If all of your tuition and fees are covered, your cna training will be free.

It is sometimes possible to find free CNA training classes online.  If you find a program that is approved for your state, you can use these classes as the starting point for your nursing assistant career.  However, you will need to complete some clinical instruction hours offline.  Depending on the structure of the online program, you might need to pay a fee for this portion of your training.

By taking your time to look into multiple nursing assistant training options, you are likely to find free  training opportunities.

Direct Free Training Opportunities

Wisconsin Job Corps
There are two Job corps centers in Wisconsin. They are located in Blackwell and Milwaukee. Both offer free of cost nursing assistant training to qualifying students. One advantage of working at the Job corps is that you get a living allowance as well as accommodation. If you’re running out of other options in getting a worthwhile career, you might want to give the Job Corps a go. It was set up to aid workers who have not been able to complete their GED and help them get vocational training to become worthwhile members of the workforce.

Workforce Advantage
If you’ve been unemployed for a while and are too old for the Job Corps, you might want to visit your local Workforce advantage office in Wisconsin to see if you qualify for free retraining. The United States Govt hates it when people are unemployed and has set in place many programs that make vocational training easily accessible and in some cases(if you qualify) even free!. Hi my name is Celestine Fulsom, I was wondering if you could send me some info on CNA training. Years ago I took the course and pass it, but did not presue or took advantage of this, because I was offered a supervisor position in Environmental service. Now that I’m laid off from this position I would like to go back in this field. My certificate has expired and I need to take this course all over again. I love working and helping others its always been my dream to work in the nursing field.

  11. Brianna June 6, 2013 at 1:59 am #

Hi, My name is Brianna, and I am very interested in becoming a CNA. I don’t want to make it a career want a career in the science field. But I’m still in High school =/ Are there places that I can take CNA training ? Maybe even free?

    • Mary June 18, 2014 at 10:29 pm #

Hi Brianna! I’m in a very similar situation to you, I am now a certified nursing assistant who is not pursuing it as a lifetime career but as a transition to another career in the health care field. There are definitely places for highschoolers to pursue cna training, as I did the summer between my junior and senior year in highschool. I would say try looking online for local programs. Also, I did get the training for free through a special program in my school district. Try talking to your school counselors and see if they have any special oppurtunities like that or at the very least they can help you find a local training program for becoming a cna. Good luck in your endeavors!!

  14. Angela Islas May 14, 2022 at 1:01 am #

    Good evening,

I am looking for an organization that trains and certifies CNAs. I enrolled at Herzing University in the LPN/DPN program which is set to begin on 7/9/2022.

A little background, beginning in high school, I worked in a nursing home as a Dietary Aide. I enrolled at Bryant and Stratton College around 1995 in Medical Assisting but then family issues occurred and I was not able to complete the program. In 1990, I became a Certified Pharmacy Technician through Walgreens and worked as a Pharmacy Technician until 2002. I worked at Walgreens and then worked at Team care/Neighborcare Pharmacy mainly automed for CBRF and other nursing home facilities. In 2002, I worked at Froedtert Memorial Hospital as a Receptionist in the Nephrology/Transplant Clinic. I left there in 2004. My healthcare experience then picked up again in 2006 when I worked at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in Bad Debt Scheduling/Pre-Cert/Insurance as a Customer Service Rep II. From there I took a break from the healthcare field and went to college to obtain my Associate in Business Management/Human Resource Management.

My father passed in 2020 and I did most of his care. He had a trech and G-tube. I fed and provided his medications through the G-tube and suctioned his trech when needed. At the end of his home hospice, I took over 100% of his care, cleaning him, suctioning, medication, and hygiene. Because he was always my mentor and light, I decided it was time for me to go to school and be a nurse. I decided just recently, that it’s time and enrolled at Herzing where I will obtain my LPN and work to retire in a position I feel I was always destined to be in. My passion for human life and health will make me an exceptional addition to any facility.

Please contact me should you have anything available that I can pursue to gain experience and practice in the nursing field to help my success in my education.
