Free CNA Training in Idaho

Have you decided to train for certification as a nursing assistant in Idaho?  You will be searching for a state approved training program.  The programs are approved by the Department of Health and Welfare for the state of Idaho.  This department maintains a list of all training programs in the state. To get free training in Idaho, see the options available below:

1) DOH and Welfare: You should contact the Department of Health and Welfare if you are searching for free cna training.  Most programs are a few hundred to several hundred dollars.  If there are currently any special training programs offering free training, the Department should be able to provide you with details.  They are also likely to know of any programs available in your state that could help you to pay for the cost of your nursing assistant training.Of course, you will need to contact the administrators of training programs directly if you locate any that offer free training or financial assistance options.  You will be able to determine if you should apply to one of these training classes or if you should apply to receive financial help.

2) Nursing Care Facilities: Many care facilities and even some hospitals in the state of Idaho provide cna training programs.  You should contact such facilities in your area.  Ask the administrators of such programs if you can apply for employment as a nursing assistant before receiving your certification.

Many of these places will actually hire you to work for them and will subsequently pay for your training.

3) Adult Education Centers: Locate training programs at colleges and adult education schools as well.  Contact the financial aid department to ask about any financial assistance that is available for these programs.  You should receive details on any programs for which you might qualify. It will be necessary to fill out an application for grants as well as scholarships.

Low Cost Training

College of Southern Idaho
315 Falls Avenue – PO Box 1238 – Twin Falls – ID – 83303-1238
They currently have a 60 day program that costs just $550 which is slightly cheaper than a lot of other colleges and centers in Idaho. Due to the length of the program you can expect to get a very thorough education which will hold you in good stead when you apply for jobs since potential employers look favorably at college graduates compared to shorter courses from other centers. Of course, we’re not saying that training centers don’t do a good job. This is just a notion that any employers have.

Idaho State University
921 S 8th Ave, Pocatello, ID 83201,  208-282-0211
They have a 12 week program that costs just $500 for tuition. You might have to pay extra for the books and scrubs(if necessary). Still a great deal!

Institutions That Might Be Of Assistance:

1) Community Council of Idaho

201 21st Ave, Caldwell, ID – 83605, Phone: 208-454-8604

The Community Council of Idaho is a great place to get free training for budding nurse aides. One of the federal programs served through this organization is the Workforce Investment Act. They get federal funds to pay for training programs. They work with rural communities so you might not automatically qualify. They have 6 locations in Idaho that provide services.

2) Centennial Job Corps Center

3201 Ridgecrest Drive, Nampa, ID – 83687,  Phone: 208-442-4500

Centennial Job Corps Center provides a great opportunity for qualifying teens and young adults who fall between 16 and 24.  CNA training is one of the programs served at this center. Job Corps are rather difficult places for a lot of people to get training in the sense that they are very strict and sometimes make students live on campus to qualify for the classes. We suggest going for the option above rather than the Job Corps one.
