CNA Training in South Carolina

If you want to become a CNA, you will need to complete an accredited nursing assistant training course and to pass the certification exam.  You can also become a certified nursing assistant in South Carolina if you have received certification in another state.  In order to do so, you will need to apply for reciprocity.  This is a process by which the state of South Carolina will review your nursing assistant credentials from another state and determine if they can grant your certification in South Carolina without requiring you to complete training or take the competency exam again.

Every nursing assistant must renew their certification every couple years as regulated by the state.  If you work as a nursing assistant in a nursing facility that is Medicaid improved, the employer will pay any fees for recertification.  You will simply need to make certain you submit any associated paperwork on time.  If you are a certified nursing assistant, you will also need to make certain that you work for a minimum of eight hours during each two year period.  Otherwise, your certification will expire.  Certified nursing assistants in the state of South Carolina are listed in the Nurse Aide Registry for North Carolina.
