The Department of Health and Family Services in Wisconsin has developed the standard competency exam for nursing assistants. This is a 3 credit CNA course. Credits are about $112 per credit for residents. Higher rates are charged for non-residents. Those who complete the training will have the skills and knowledge needed to work well as nursing assistants. They will learn to provide the assistance necessary to patients as well as how to interact well with family and staff members. The Nursing Assistant training program includes 42 hours of lecture as well as 35 hours of lab work. There is an additional 45 hours of clinical experience required.
