CNA Training In California

The state of California has various pre-screening requirements for people interested in training for a career as a nursing assistant.  The state of California will perform a criminal record background check.  They will do some by requiring mandatory fingerprinting.  It will not be possible to complete the clinical portion of your CNA training until you submit to fingerprinting and a criminal record check.  You will be able to complete training and pursue your nursing assistant training if you do not have a criminal record. Find an accredited school from the reviews we have below.

In some cases, you might be eligible to sit for the CNA certification examination if you have medical training other than a CNA training course.  In order to determine if you could sit for a nursing assistant certification exam, call the California Department of Health.  They can be reached at (916) 327-2445.

What course of action should you take if a nursing home resident complains about noise coming from a neighbor’s room?

A. politely tell the patient to ignore the noise
B. move the patient to a new location
C. politely ask the neighbor to reduce the noise level
D. none of the above

Answer: C- See Section 1 of the CNA Study Guide (Noise and Lighting).
It is very important for residents to have a peaceful environment that is free from any unnecessary noises. Loss of sleep can make it difficult for the elderly to recover from infection and other illnesses.

When other patients have visitors, sometimes the noise level becomes loud enough for other patients to hear. If this happens, you can politely instruct family and friends of the resident to maybe turn down the television so they don’t have to talk over it, or maybe sit closer to the resident so they don’t have to raise their voice.

If a patient has the television or radio too loud and the noise is affecting other residents, politely bring the problem to the patient’s attention. If the patient refuses to cooperate, let the charge nurse know about the situation.
