The Dodge City Community College for example, offers an excellent training program for CNAs. They offer both a Basic Nurse Aide Curriculum and a Geriatric Nurse Aide Curriculum (for those who wish to work in nursing home settings). The nursing assistant programs include classroom instruction and clinical experience. The course is worth five credit hours. The CNA programs available at Dodge City Community College are state approved meaning that they meet all requirements of the Board of Nursing in Kansas.
Students who enroll in the CNA training courses do not need to have graduated high school. However students cannot enroll until they are at least 18 years of age. Students who complete and pass one of the nursing assistant training programs, can then sit for the certification exam. It is necessary to pass this exam before become a certified nursing aide. The Dodge City Community College Nursing Aide program can be registered for through the paraprofessionals department. Some students will qualify for financial aid to help pay for the course. Nursing assistant training can be completed within a matter of weeks. Most nursing aides make at least $22,000 each year, though opportunities exist to earn even more.

To enroll into the CNA classes at Hutchinson, you will need to have a valid CPR certification, a negative TB test certificate and a valid social security ID. The classes cost $550. This does not include the cost of textbooks for which you will have to pay on the first day of your class. You must apply in person and arrange for payment before the classes begin. They also have an option to take the classroom portion of the course online. The cost for that program is $590.

They have three types of classes. Evening, weekend and day time classes that give you flexibility in studying whether you’re working somewhere or have other responsibilities during the day. The refresher courses cost $175, the weekend courses cost $750 while the evening classes are just under $700. You can only take the refresher course if you have let your license expire and have to brush up on your CNA skills to be able to sit and pass the certification exam. If you are applying for a license for the first time you will need to enroll in and take part in a proper training program which runs for at least 100 hours and includes thorough clinical sessions.

They have refresher classes for those who have let their certifications expire while not having done any work in the mandated two year period. You can enroll in the classes for less than $100. The classes last for 21 hours of which 9 hours are spent revising on the various CNA skills.
