The state of Montana provides full-time nurses aide with a 4 months grace period from their date of hire to receive their CNA certification.  The law allows long-term care facilities to hire nursing aides even if they are not yet certified.  The employee will need to complete a CNA training program and pass the certification exam within four months.  Individuals have the right to challenge the CNA state competency exam in Montana.  This is for people who have the skills and knowledge necessary to provide excellent care as a nursing assistant without the need to complete a training program.  If someone challenges the certification exam, they must pass the exam on their first attempt.  Otherwise, the individual will need to complete a CNA training program.

They have an 87 hour CNA training program that allows you to take the theory part of the syllabus online and at your own pace. You can however choose to attend classroom sessions if you wish. 32 hours of clinical sessions must however be attended in person and can not be done online.
