CNA Training in New Hampshire

There are many nursing assistant training programs available in New Hampshire.  Some of the programs are offered at community colleges while others are offered in healthcare settings.  The community college/technical school programs make students eligible to apply for financial aid to help pay tuition.  River Valley Community College offers a CNA training program during the spring and fall sessions.  To meet the needs of everyone, there is a full-time as well as a part-time course.  This particular training program includes 144 hours of instruction (including both training in the classroom and in a clinical setting).

Nursing assistant training programs in the state of New Hampshire must be approved by the State Board of Nursing.  Otherwise, students will not quality to sit for the nursing assistant certification program.  A nursing assistant can expect to make an average of $25,300 each year.  Of course, some nursing assistants will earn more or less depending on their years of experience and the healthcare setting in which they work.   If you are interested in a career as a certified nursing assistant in the state of New Hampshire, you will need to find an accredited CNA training program and take the certification exam upon graduating from the course.

Medication Nursing Assistant Program

A licensed nursing assistant who has an interest in learning to administer medications to patients and residents, should consider training to become a medication nursing assistant (MNA).  An individual must be able to provide two strong character witnesses from their place of employment and must have a nursing assistant license that is still active and in good standing.

Training to become an MNA must take placed at a state approved training facility.  An individual will gain the necessary classroom and lab study to perform duties in a clinical setting well.  There is a clinical component of any approved medication assistant training program.  A minimum of 30 hours EACH for theoretical and clinical training must be completed.  Some programs require even more hours.

In order to become an MNA, an individual cannot have any felony convictions on a background check.  They should be a person who is honest, caring and who can safely and kindly administer medications to patients as permitted under their duties.

Once an individual completed a medication assistant training program, he or she must apply to receive their final certification from the Board of Nursing.  After receiving approval, the individual will be able to work as a medication assistant.

One of the popular programs provided is for individuals who are looking to expand their nursing assistant careers by becoming medication nursing assistants.  These professionals are often referred to as MNA’s and are able to administer certain medications under guidelines provided during training. Lakes Region has a very thorough nursing assistant course that lasts for 106 hours of which 60 hours are part of clinical sessions. The tuition costs are $1280. This does not include costs of textbooks which you will have to purchase externally. You will also need to pay $160 for taking the state certification exam upon completion of your training. You will also need to pay $55 for a criminal background check and $35 to apply for a LNA license from the New Hampshire Nursing Board. Uniforms are a requirement for the clinical sessions and they cost approximately $30.
